Ballymaglancy Cave is a 726-metre limestone tunnel near Cong where lesser horseshoe bats still fly through darkness that human hands have not decorated or disturbed. The townland name points to a family called Clancy or Glancy, while Pollwalter preserves a forgotten mill pond beside the entrance. People may have followed water into that chamber before written records, but the bats remain the true owners, turning a hidden Galway passage into a living chamber of breath and shadow.
