Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Druming

Fairy fort in Druming, County Longford: a 45m earthen ring on an east-facing pasture slope, with a low bank, faded drystone traces and no visible entrance now. In 1976 the file still listed a fosse, a possible northeast gap, two house sites and an underground passage; those markings have since disappeared under grass, soil or forgetting. The fort may have been a small defended home, a seasonal gathering place or a boundary marker dressed up by later legend. Whatever it was, it has become the kind of ordinary strangeness that belongs to open Irish fields: a circle large enough to remember, but no longer clear enough to prove.
