What is recorded here

Indicated is a crannog in Drumalough, County Roscommon, Ireland. It appeared as a twenty-metre island on the 1837 Ordnance Survey map and remained attached to the southwest shore on the 1914 edition. The lake has since reduced, moving its western shore fifty metres northeast. The grass-covered mound stands 1.1 to 1.6 metres high with a ten-metre top, though no clear artificial construction is visible.

Depicted as an island (diam. c. 20m) on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and as an island attached to the SW shore of triangular Drumalough (dims c. 500m NW-SE; c. 300m NE-SW at SE) on the 1914 ed. The W shore of the reduced lake (dims c. 275m NW-SE; c. 200m NE-SW) is now c. 50m to the NE. Subcircular, flat-topped and grass-covered mound (dims of base 29m N-S; 25.4m E-W; dims. of top 10.3m N-S; 6.4m E-W; H 1.1-1.6m) with stones, but there is no clear indication of artificial construction.
