Earthwork in Dromin

Earthwork

What is recorded here

Dromin lost its ancient moat when the Ardee railway cut through the land, erasing a marker older than memory. The trains still run where the ditch once held water, carrying people past a hole the earth no longer remembers.
Tradition of a 'moat' here, but it was apparently removed during the construction of the Ardee - Dromin junction railway line (IFC Schools' Mss 669, 46). Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 6 July 2012

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
