Cairn

Cairn is a long low mound of peat in County Carlow, Ireland, reaching only about forty centimetres high. It may be a natural feature rather than a human make, yet the distinction barely matters once rain, root and time have touched it. A person could have knelt there, marked a boundary or simply watched the sky change over the flat land. The mound still holds that much uncertainty, and the uncertainty gives it life.
