Doory holds an enclosure only in name now. Drainage and land improvement erased the feature that once appeared in aerial photography, leaving behind a flat field where a boundary should still stand. The site resists memory, yet the loss is certain. What was enclosed has been opened again, not by discovery but by forgetting.

There was no surface evidence of any enclosure in the area marked on the aerial photographs taken in (GSI N 533/4) . This area has recently been drained and was probably destroyed during land improvements. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
