What is recorded here
Derreeny holds a faint cup-and-ring mark on smooth sandstone above the Kealduff River valley. The hillock stands within an old drystone field system, suggesting people once shaped the land around this small decorated surface. Rain has nearly erased the mark, but it still emerges when light strikes the stone at the right angle.
In rough pasture, ontop of hillock (170m OD), within drystone field system, overlooking Kealduff River valley to S. A smooth and unfractured sandstone rock outcrop (dims. 2.00m NW-SE; 1.40m NE-SW; max. H 0.70m) which has a rectangular decorated surface (dims. 0.25m N-W; 0.13m E-W) which is upon a flat surface on top of rock; rock slopes down to SE from this point. The rock art is very weathered and faint consisting of a cup-and-one ring motif (diam. 9cm) having a cupmark (diam. 4cm; D 5mm) and ring (Wth 1cm; D 3mm). A cupmark (diam. 5cm; D 4mm) is adjacent to SE.
