What is recorded here

One pillar stone still stands inside a walled graveyard at the north end of Dalkey town, while a second narrower stone recorded near the west doorway has vanished. The graveyard rises above the road junction like a forgotten room, keeping its dead clear of cart wheels and curious feet. Whoever set those stones believed height could resist forgetting, and the first pillar still answers that belief.

Situated at the N end of Dalkey town at the junction of Castle Street and Ormeau Dive. The pillar-stone is located within a rectangular walled-in graveyard raised above the level of the road. A pillar-stone identified by O'Reilly (1901, 147) close to the W doorway was not located. It was described as a narrow stone, square in plan (H 0.61m, 0.23m by 0.23m).
