What is recorded here

Indicated is a vanished circular enclosure on a Mayo ridge, mapped in 1837 and 1919 but erased from the ground before memory faded. It stood beside another rath, watching the valley through pasture and storm, until quarrying took its slope and forgetting took the rest. What remains is a absence with coordinates, a hole in the landscape where a boundary once held sky and earth together.

In pasture, located on the top of the higher E end of an E−W ridge, with excellent views. This enclosure, possibly a rath, is shown on the 1837 and 1919 OS 6-inch maps as a sub-circular enclosure (diam. 25m). There is no visible trace at ground level. The ridge slope has been quarried out immediately to the S of the location of the enclosure. A rath (MA062-063----) is located 75m to W on the same ridge top.
