Coogan Fort is a circular earthen ringfort on a ridge in County Meath, Ireland. Its grass-covered banks and entrance causeway still mark the boundary between the inner yard and the surrounding coniferous forest. The preserved shape suggests people lived, worked or gathered inside the fort before the trees closed around it.

Located towards the S end of a NNW-SSE ridge, it is described as ‘Coogan Fort’ in gothic lettering on the OS 6-inch maps. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 34m NNE-SSW; 32m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 5-5.5m; int. H 0.3-0.5m; ext. H 1.5-1.7m) with some bushes separated by a fosse (Wth of top 7-8m; Wth of base 2-2.5m; ext. D 0.2-0.5m) from an outer bank (Wth of base 3.5-4m; ext. H 0.5-0.8m). The entrance through the inner (Wth of base 1.8m) and outer (Wth of base 2.2m) banks with a slight causeway is at ESE, and there is some stone facing on the banks around the entrance. Just SW of the centre is a hut site visible as a grass-covered platform (diam. 9m; H 0.35m) with stones at its edge. The rath remains unplanted in a coniferous forest (Digitalmap).
