What is recorded here

Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Creevyquin,killeenboy, County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a gentle southeast-facing slope as a circular grass platform measuring forty-seven point six metres north-south and forty-four point two metres east-west. A rounded fosse surrounds the platform, and a north-south field bank bisects the monument between Creevyquin and Killeenboy. Quarrying damaged the northeast perimeter, while vegetation overgrew the southeast and southwest sections.

On a gentle SE-facing slope. Circular grass-covered platform (diam. 47.6m N-S; 44.2m E-W) defined by a rounded fosse (Wth of top 4.2-7m; Wth of base 1.6-3m; int. D 0.9-1.1m; ext. D 0.1-0.2m). There is no identifiable original entrance, but the perimeter is damaged by quarrying at NE, and overgrown SE-SW. The monument is bisected by a N-S field bank/townland boundary between Creevyquin on the W and Killeenboy on the E. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
