Crannog in Derinish More is a small circular island in Lough Oughter, County Cavan, where lowered water revealed a possible stone platform after decades of submergence. The lake gave the place back only when human needs changed its level, suggesting the water has always been a participant rather than a passive container.

Not marked on any OS ed. Small circular island (diam. c. 22m) situated in Lough Oughter, in shallow water, c. 50m from the shoreline. Some stone is visible, possibly representing the remains of a low platform. Water-levels in Lough Oughter were lowered considerably during the middle decades of this century. Hitherto the site was not visible (local information). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995).
