Indicated is a fairy fort in County Monaghan, Ireland. It is no longer an obvious ringfort because farming and forgetting have folded its bank into an ordinary field edge. What remains is a curved line in the earth, wide enough to suggest a fort and quiet enough to suggest a mistake. The name does more work than the shape. It points at itself, as if the place were never certain whether it wanted to be seen.

Located at the S tip of a broad NW-SE spur in a fairly low-lying landscape. It is depicted as an embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 45m) described as a ‘fort’ in gothic lettering on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map, and as a curved field bank NE-SW on the 1907 edition. A field bank (Wth 1.5m; H 1m) and hedge NE-E-SW (Chord c. 50m NE-SW) may incorporate part of the bank but there is no other evidence of an antiquity The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
