Dunboy Castle is a ruined 15th-century stronghold on the Beara Peninsula in County Cork, built to guard the harbour of Berehaven. During the 1602 Siege of Dunboy, a large English army smashed its walls, killed most of the small defending force, and broke the power of the O'Sullivan Bere clan. The castle was left in ruin, later covered by a mid-17th-century fort, and now stands as exposed stone beside the sea, still carrying the memory of that violent summer.
