Jack Foley, a Youghal-born storekeeper on the RMS Titanic, helped women and children into lifeboats and crewed boat No. 4, saving over fifty people before the ship sank on April 15th 1912. He lived to 1934, carrying the drowned dark water of that night in his bones long after the world stopped speaking his name.
Born in Youghal in 1865, Jack was a storekeeper on the RMS Titanic during her tragic sinking on April 15th 1912.He assisted women and children into lifeboats and helped crew lifeboat No. 4 that saved over 50 lives. Jack died in Southhampton in 1934.
