What is recorded here

Indicated is a circular earthen fort in County Cork, Ireland, enclosing the ruined walls of a chapel. The fort has three gaps in its bank and a shallow ditch inside the main ridge. Its shape is still clear in the pasture, but its history has faded from local memory.

In pasture on level ground. Roughly circular area (26.8m N-S; 22m E-W) enclosed by overgrown earthen bank (H 1.5m); shallow intervening fosse; very low outer bank (H 0.1m) SSW->ENE; faint traces outer fosse. Gap inbank to ENE (Wth 3m); WSW (Wth 6m); WNW (Wth 3m). Ruins of RC chapel (CO062-079002-) in interior; W wall incorporated into inner bank.
