Shantempleen (in Ruins)

Abutting inside bank at S end of ringfort (4477). Heavily overgrown remains of rectangular structure (13.5m E-W; 7.6m N-S); walls (H 0.5m; Wth 0.9m) in poor condition; interior slightly lower than surrounding interior of ringfort. Named 'Shantempleen' (old church) on OS 6-inch maps; according to O'Donoghue (1986, 288), 'ruins of a Catholic church'. Possible grain drying kiln (CO063-046005-) in NE corner.
