Earthwork in Coolnakisha

Earthwork

What is recorded here

Coolnakisha holds a broken ring of earth thirty-five metres across, perhaps a forgotten fort where people once lived beside the Carlow fields.
The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Appears to be raised platform or remains of mound (H c. 2m; base diam. c. 35m). Probably a ringfort, partically defaced.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
