Knockfierna Hill still holds Lisanaberne, a circular fairy fort where pastures cover a level interior and stone-faced banks rise against the sky. The causeway at the eastern edge invites entry through two ridges, suggesting the site welcomed visitors rather than keeping them out. Local story calls it a fairy fort, but the shape and preservation point to human hands building a defensible home on a sunny slope.
In pasture, on S-facing slope of Knockfierna Hill. Circular area (29.1m N-S; 28.3m E-W) enclosed by inner earthen bank, outer earth-and-stone bank, and intervening fosse (Wth 2.5m). Inner bank (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 6.2m), best preserved WSW->NE, lowers at S. Outer bank (ext. H 2.4m), stone faced internally SSW->SW, becomes flat-topped and widens (Wth 2.4m) along N arc. Fosse (D 0.75m), littered with loose stone, becomes flat-bottomed at SW. Causeway entrance at ENE through inner (Wth 4.6m) and outer (Wth 7.4m) banks. Level interior under pasture. Remains of dry-stone field wall abuts outer bank at SE.
