What is recorded here

Grave Yard is a graveyard in Cloonown, County Roscommon, Ireland. The burial ground measures roughly 130 metres north to south and 95 metres east to west, enclosing a ruined church positioned near its southern edge. A geophysical survey detected the buried ditch of an ancient ecclesiastical enclosure running just outside the western wall, marking the site as considerably older than its current appearance.
On a level landscape. A modern cross commemorates the graveyard (dims c. 35m E-W; c. 20m N-S) defined by masonry walls, which is preserved as a green just E of the old Roman Catholic church. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
