A gabled house is shown on the Down Survey (1655-6) barony map near the E end of Clooncalla More townland. Healy (1988, 242) considers Maryborough House (a modern house which has replaced a Georgian house) to have been built on the site of this house.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
