What is recorded here
Indicated is an enclosure in County Offaly, Ireland, marked only by a line drawn around a church on an old map. That line still matches the rough circle of rubble and scrub visible today, although no wall, ditch or gate has ever appeared in the evidence. The name may point to a boundary someone believed rather than one built to be touched.
No evidence of enclosure. Line marked on the OS 6-inch map around the church (OF027-008002-) is roughly the area now covered with rubble and scrub.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
