Clochan in Gleann Fán

Clochan

What is recorded here

On a relatively level terrace on the steep rocky slopes below the Slea Head road. An oval corbelled drystone clochaun with a defaced entrance gap at SE. The irregular nature of the walling may be due to the fact that the structure has been considerably rebuilt in recent years (local information). D: 1.9 to 2.85m. H: 2.2m. T: .8m. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 1282. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 5 August 2013
