Fisherstreet Pot

Fisherstreet Pot marks the entrance to Doolin Cave beneath a conspicuous clump of trees just south of the main road from Lisdoonvarna to Doolin. Bartlett heard a powerful stream roaring thirty to forty feet below in 1936, yet the cave waited fifteen years for explorers because people believed the low-lying, sea-near land must be drowned. That confidence ignored the dry passages already hiding nearby, including St. Catherine's and the Smithy Sink. The pot seemed obvious, but expectation blocked entry; the cave kept its own counsel until someone stopped listening to the region's reputation and began listening to its water.
