Church in Garranes (kinalmeaky By.)

At W end of graveyard (CO096-00802-). Church built in 1797 and later re-opened after repairs in 1862 (Brady 1867, vol. 1, 342-343). Four pointed windows in S wall of nave; vestry to N. Castellated earlier tower at W end with plaque '1718 J. Johnson Archt'. S wall of nave weatherslated. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. The church in Garranes was built in 1797 and re-opened in 1862 after repairs; it features a castellated earlier tower at the west end and four pointed windows in the south wall of the nave, reflecting a Gothic Revival style. Its location at the west end of the graveyard suggests a traditional rural ecclesiastical layout.
