What is recorded here

Indicated is an earthwork in Castlecoote, County Roscommon, Ireland. It appears as a circular feature forty to forty-five metres across with trees on the 1837 Ordnance Survey map, lying on a gentle southeast-facing slope about 450 metres southwest of Castlecoote fortified house. The earthwork is not visible at ground level in pasture, while a ringfort stands seventy metres to the northwest.
Marked as a circular feature (diam. c. 40-45m) with trees on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a gentle SE-facing slope c. 450m SW of Castlecoote fortified house (RO039-061002-). It is not visible at ground level in pasture. Ringfort (RO039-059----) is c. 70m to the NNW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
