What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort on a Longford ridge where farm buildings now occupy the middle of its broken ring. Its earth bank and outside ditch have been pulled into field boundaries, erasing the entrance and turning ancient defense into ordinary farming. The fort still marks the highest point of the land, but human use has rewritten its shape.
A short distance off the highest point of a NW-SE ridge in pasture. Depicted as an irregular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the OS Fair Plan; the S half was tree-lined. A raised circular area (diam. 36.9m) enclosed by a bank of earth and stone with an external fosse, both of which have been modified and incorporated into a field boundary. The original entrance is not recognisable. The interior is occupied by farm buildings. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011
