Habitation site in Cashel

Excavations in 1990 to the rear of Nos. 44-46 Main Street, Cashel, adjacent to the town wall (TS061-025023-) revealed a variety of medieval features, including a series of linear ditches and other shallow linear features, possibly trenches for fill-beams or wall foundations; two hearths and a variety of pits (Stevens 1991, 51). Neither the ditches nor the 'fill-beam trenches' formed a clearly interpretable pattern (ibid.). A collection of medieval pottery sherds, principally l3th-4th century in date, was recovered (ibid.).
