Graveslab in Cashel

In the interior of St. John's C of I Cathedral, at the NE end of the nave, immediately S of the chancel. The cathedral is on the site of a medieval church (TS061-025013-). A graveslab reused as the pedestal for a medieval font (TS061-025101-) which was moved here from St John's in Kilkenny. The pedestal consists of the upper dexter portion (dims 0.88m x 0.88m; H 0.21m) of a reused limestone graveslab. This graveslab was originally much larger, but has been machine cut along the sinister side and base to form its present square shape. It is bears an incised latin inscription 'hic jacet' in black letter script.
