Indicated

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Indicated is a small circular stone enclosure on the north side of a road within the northwest quadrant of an ecclesiastical enclosure in County Longford. It appeared as a fort on the 1837 and 1878 Ordnance Survey maps, but dense scrub now hides most of its shape. Loose stone still lies scattered where a drystone wall probably stood, waiting for someone to clear the branches and remember the boundary.
On the N side of a road within the NW quadrant of an ecclesiastical enclosure (LF021-033----). Depicted as a small circular enclosure with the designation Fort on the 1837 and 1878 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. This enclosure and the area immediately surrounding it are densely overgrown with scrub rendering inspection difficult. However, large quantities of loose stone, probably collapse from a drystone wall, are visible. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011
