Cairn is a 228-acre townland in County Cavan where prehistoric stones still mark the ground before McKiernan clan borders were drawn across it. The land changed hands repeatedly after 1610, yet local families kept returning to fields already named in older speeches. John Achmootie never appeared to claim his grant, while James Craig sent artificers, horses and a forge into the wood. The place remembers more than its owners because the fields, lough and road continue the life of everyone who worked them.

Marked 'Carn' and depicted as a small circular enclosure on OS 1836 and 1876 eds. Situated on the E shoulder of a drumlin ridge. Not visible at ground level.
