Castlemore Moat is a nine-metre earth mound built by Raymond FitzGerald during the Norman invasion of Ireland. He married Basilia, sister of Strongbow, and they lived together at the castle before human ambition faded into soil. A standing stone with a Latin cross still marks the site, preserving the shape of a relationship that outlived its builders.
Castlemore Moat is recorded as a archaeological place in County Carlow. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
