What is recorded here

According to the OS Letters 'at the foot of a heathy mountain there is a cairn of stones, of which a considerable quantity has been removed and what remains is much scattered. There was a sepulchral chamber in the centre of this cairn as appears from one side still remaining, which is a large flag measuring seven feet [2.1m] in length, three feet six inches [1.06m] in height and fourteen inches [0.35m] in thickness. This cairn is fifty paces in circumference but not more than two and a half feet [0.75m] in height at present. The natives have no name for it at present but the White Stones because it is covered with a whiteish moss' (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 1, 99-100). This cairn is unlocated within Cummer Beg townland.
