What is recorded here

Gallán is a leaning standing stone in Mid Cork bogland, tall enough to mark a boundary but small enough to hide inside the land. It sits uncovered in open marsh, tilted northeast as if listening to something moving above the water. The absence of Gallán from both maps suggests the place resisted official visibility, perhaps because it belonged to people who did not want their markers owned.

Not shown on 1842 and 1904 OS 6-inch maps. In bogland with good view in every direction. Stone (H 1.4m; 0.5m x 0.9m) is subrectangular in plan, leaning heavily to NE. Long axis NE-SW.
