Field boundary in Caherbarnagh

In undulating, wet, boggy ground, at the base of the N slopes of Caherbarnagh Mountain. A stretch (L c. 27.43m) of a relict stone field boundary was recorded in this location in the mid-1990s. It was described as consisting of a number of stones (av. H c. 0.38m; W c. 0.04m) which protruded above the surface of the surrounding bog. Access to the area was not possible during a subsequent inspection in July 2005 due to dense forestry. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
