Annesgrove Demesne holds a vanished giant burial where barn foundations broke free several gigantic bones and one great skull before the discovery was lost. Robert Grove watched the excavation near his seat in the mid-eighteenth century, but the bones were not preserved. The earth kept the shape of the creature while human hands discarded the proof, leaving only the memory of size behind a ordinary farm building.

In Annesgrove Demesne. According to Smith (1750, vol. 1, 336-7), near 'the seat of Robert Grove, esq..., as they were digging the foundations of a barn, several gigantic human bones, and, in particular, a great skull, were discovered; but...they were...not preserved.'
