What is recorded here
In rolling pasture, situated at the edge of a low naturally-occurring scarp which borders the NE edge of an area of wet, marshy ground. It is sheltered on the SW side by a low knoll, now partly quarried out. A modern road lies a few meters to NW. A sod-covered, oblong rise (c. 18m N-S; 12m E-W; H 0.55m) sloping into the marshy area on the W side, with a well defined edge at N-NE changing to a broader more gradual slope at E-SE. The limits of the mound at S are difficult to determine. It is composed of shattered sandstone within a charcoal rich matrix. There is another burnt mound (SL019-224----) located c. 140m to NE.
