Hidden beneath the northwest quadrant of a Galway ringfort, a buried passage once twisted through solid earth before soil and time smoothed it into a grassy L-shaped ditch. The longer arm stretched east-west before bending south, mapping a route no longer visible but still measurable in the dip of the ground. Whatever lived or moved through that dark tube has vanished, leaving only a shallow green scar where human hands first cut beneath the fort.

Within NW quadrant of a ringfort (GA029-031----). According to Costello (1903, 10), this 'fort' contained 'a Man-made underground passage, but it is so filled up as to prevent inspection'. What is now visible is a grassy L-shaped depression (L 20m, Wth 3.5m) averaging 0.6m in depth. The longer arm (L 12.6m) runs E-W before turning sharply to S at E end, from where the shorter arm (L 7.4m) extends on a N-S axis.
