Freestanding cast-iron water pump, erected c.1870. Now disused. Cylindrical shaft with raised horizontal banding, fluted upper section with spout having ram's head bucket grip, fluted domed cap with finial and cow's-tail handle. Illegible foundry mark cast to centre of shaft. Set on concrete plinth in green area between Church of Ireland and Presbyterian church. Later hydrant immediately to west.

This water pump exhibits artistic cast detailing in its design and in particular its cow's-tail pump handle, which enliven this otherwise functional object. Water pumps such as this played an important social and functional role in nineteenth and twentieth-century Ireland, providing a communal water source for the locality. Centrally located within the village, this water pump is of technical interest whilst also making a positive contribution to the local streetscape.
