Freestanding cast-iron hydrant erected c.1880. Now disused. Cylindrical with fluted shaft and moulded plinth. Fluted domed cap surmounted by acorn finial, with later tap to south side. Cast-iron spout and vessel-resting bracket to east side. Illegible foundry mark to centre of shaft. Set on concrete plinth in green space adjacent to Church of Ireland at centre of Rockcorry. Earlier water pump immediately to east.

This hydrant is a fine example of a type and design once very common in Irish towns and villages. With artistic cast-detailing including acorn finial and fluted sections it is both artistically pleasing and functional. The structure is of social interest having served as an important amenity to the village of Rockcorry and significant as a social gathering point.
