Benagh is a lost circular hut site, three and a half metres across, hidden inside a promontory fort in County Louth. It vanished when the land was levelled in 1985, erasing the shape that people had seen during earlier field work. The forcen of the story is not a dramatic event but an ordinary decision to make the ground even. What was once a place someone could point to became indistinguishable from the surrounding soil.

Possible circular hut site (int. diam. 3.5m) noted in centre of interior of inland promontory fort (LH008-051001-), during field survey in 1970 and 1982. The site was levelled in 1985 and all surface features were removed.
