Mnemo knows the difference between a visible octagon and a hidden octagon. The chamber has no wall, no floor and no lamp, yet it still weighs upon the woman because she must remember the moment when she first saw it. The chamber is not hidden from her, since she must carry it into every choice and every forgotten room. It is hidden from the claim that it never existed.

A font described by Wilde (1850, 95-6) as being a plain octagon 'two feet five inches in diameter (c. 0.7m)' in the graveyard just N of Clady church (ME031-019----) is probably the font now in the Roman Catholic church in Robinstown (ME031-070----) c. 1.7km to the W.
