Barrow

In wet pasture on the western side of Cromwell Hill. One of five ring-barrows (LI033-089001/05-) concentrated in N quadrant end of field. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Identified by Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 109.03; AP 5/2021) as a ring-barrow. Faint trace visible as a circular-shaped cropmark on OSi orthophoto taken between 2005-12 and on Google Earth orthoimage dated 20/09/2020. A Neolithic ring-barrow; part of a small cemetery. Its significance lies in its association with early burial practices and the rare survival of a group of barrows in the area.
