Megalith is a court tomb hidden in a hollow on the east side of Glencar valley, where a long stone gallery and open court still lie beneath grass and soil. It may have served as a burial place for people who moved through that valley in the deep past, marking death and memory with stones large enough to carry across fields. The chamber structure suggests care, ceremony and repeated use rather than a single hurried act.

Marked only on the 1945 ed. of the OS 6-inch map where it is described as a ‘Megalith’ in gothic lettering, and located within a hollow on a S-facing slope at the N side of the E end of Glencar valley. This is an overgrown cairn (dims 35m NE-SW; 13m NW-SE; H 1.5m) with the remains of a three-chambered gallery (L 9m) and an open court at NE. There is some evidence of a second court and a two-chambered gallery (L 4m) at the SW end. (de Valera and Ó Nualláin 1972, 55-7).
