House, indeterminate date

What is recorded here

One of five houses (see also GA044-020002- to GA044-020003- and GA044-020005- to GA044-020006-) within the interior of the cashel (GA044-020----). This example is on a steep slope in the NE quadrant, close to the Man-made underground passage (GA044-020001-), which possibly curves around its NW corner. A sloping area (5.9m E-W; 4.35m N-S) is defined by a double-faced wall that is best preserved along its S side. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
