What is recorded here

Eight dark cups stare back from a flat stone at Lough Hyne, the largest sitting dead centre like a mouth waiting to swallow. The bay has no owner now, but the cups still take what they are given. Drop a coin into the biggest hole and row away before the water turns black.

On the upper reaches of the stony shore, on the W side of Lough Hyne. At least eight cupmarks (diam. 0.03-0.08m; D 0.01-0.07m) are visible on the upper surface of a roughly rectangular stone (L 0.95m; Wth 0.28m; T 0.2m). The largest cupmark (diam. 0.08m; D 0.07m) is at the centre of the stone. In addition, some further slight depressions are visible on the stone, but it is unclear if they are abandoned or trial carvings or even natural features.
