Ogham stone (present location) in Ballynagigla

This ogham stone is one of two (see also WA025-128002-) from Knockmahon promontory fort (WA025-065----) which have been set up in the Geological Park at Bunmahon. Measuring 1.20m high x 0.3m x 0.2m, it is pointed at both ends and roughly lozenge-shaped in section. The inscription is only cut on the upper two thirds of the stone, the remainder presumably being below ground when the stone stood as a pillar (Manning 1989, 9). A small portion of the top of the stone is missing, leaving the inscription incomplete. This reads: SENAQ MAQ[I]/ [MU]CO[I] ENA (ibid.). For the original location of this stone see WA025-065001-.
