Rathcroghan is the oldest documented royal site in Ireland and one of its most extraordinary survival stories. A small boy named Diarmuid fell through a hidden floor in a cave beneath the mound. He climbed out changed, speaking a language no one recognised and remembering a kingdom where shadow and flesh shared one body. The men killed him because they feared what he knew. His mother walked into the cave and never returned. The mound kept both of them.
