In February 1979 a human skull appeared on the banks of the river Boyne in County Louth, its owner and story lost to time. The river may have carried the body from elsewhere, or the person may have lived near that water and been forgotten by every record. Either way the skull broke the quiet of the bank, forcing strangers to imagine a life that ended without a name.
