What is recorded here
Gateway, extant 1863, on a symmetrical plan comprising pair of cast-iron "bird cage" piers supporting cast-iron double gates with creeper- or ivy-covered outer piers having overgrown capping supporting cast-iron railings. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Ballinkeel House.
A gateway forming part of a neat self-contained group alongside an opposing gate lodge (see 15802569) with the resulting ensemble making a pleasing visual statement in a sylvan street scene at the principal entrance on to the grounds of the Ballinkeel House estate.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
